LEARN ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Join us for the opening reception of Bodies that Make, Bodies that Grieve on Thursday, October 22 at 5:30 PM in the Project Space.

This exhibition marks the inaugural curatorial project by Shafeena Yusuff Ali, which she proposed in response to our juried call for projects by emerging curators. Conceived as an immersive, earthen environment for ceramic sculptures, the exhibition features works by Nujoom Alghanem, Mirna Bamieh, Moza Al Falasi, Malavika, Parneet Pahwa, Zahra Shafie, Laiba Sherin, and Haseena Suresh. The space also includes her curatorial reading desk, inviting the visitor to engage the texts behind her thinking on this exhibition.

Shafeena Yusuff Ali is the Founder and Executive Director of the Rizq Art Initiative, an independent cultural institution dedicated to facilitating artistic exchange, developing creative practice, and disseminating arts and culture from the Global South. She is also a serial entrepreneur, hotelier, philanthropist, and scholar.
