How can our words resonate beyond the page? This workshop invites participants to explore the power of spoken poetry to transform, not just what we say, but how we embody it. Moving beyond the written word, you'll discover how voice, presence, and performance can bring poetry to life. Through guided writing prompts and embodied performance exercises, participants will shape their words for the stage, refine their delivery, and explore rhythm, tone, and breath. Whether new to performing or looking to sharpen their craft, this session offers a space to turn poems into powerful moments of connection.
Jennah Fakhouri
Jennah Fakhouri, a curator of The Arts Center’s 2025 edition of Hekayah | The Story, is an avid writer, award winning poet, and wandering spirit who seeks new experiences to tame her insatiable wanderlust. She uses her voice to offer fresh perspectives on global issues and personal journeys, especially around refugees, shaped by her Palestinian American heritage. Her poetry draws from volunteering in Morocco, Egypt, and the West Bank and her struggle to turn a fragmented identity into a place called Home.
Jennah is also the founder of Zajal, a literary brand that celebrates culture and champions diverse voices. Through poetry, performance, and storytelling, Zajal creates spaces for connection and community. Making the world a little kinder, one story at a time.
