Numoo 2024 Cohort

Trixie Danielle

Poet and Performance Artist

It was inspiring to be in a room full of creatives sharing their hurdles and how they came through. There was an overwhelming amount of generosity from The Arts Center, the guest speakers, my fellow Numoo artists and everyone else involved.

Every session counts. Each session was packed with wisdom, and practical applications drawn from real-life experiences.

Listening to real-life experiences was valuable to me in realizing that I and my fellow Numoo artists are not alone — that we are all in this together in different phases and paces continuously evolving, innovating, and generously giving back what we learned so that other people can grow and do the things that make them feel most alive — their craft. Padayon!*

*Padayon — a Visayan word that means "carry on" or "keep going"

Nurzy

Singer, Songwriter, and Musician

Numoo is one of the best things that ever happened to my creative career. We learned so much from each other and from NYU Arts Center Staff and Guest speakers: skills, knowledge, and experiences you can’t learn anywhere else.

Karim Ennoury

Dancer, Actor, and Singer

Being part of the Numoo cohort is an incredible opportunity to grow as an artist. I was surrounded by talented peers, artists and mentors who are clarifying and pushing me to refine my vision and explore new creative possibilities. This program gave me the tools and support I need to make a real impact on the UAE's thriving arts scene.

Mohammed Masharqa

Artist and Actor

I started to understand the real value of the art out there, and it gave me what we don't learn as artists in a friendly safe space.

Ksenija Kovac Romano

Professional Ballet Soloist and Choreographer

I was faced with a tonne of information that I should have learned far sooner in life. But like they say, you never stop improving and learning new things. We had the opportunity to learn so much in four days. Especially because Bill, Lana, Reem, and your team so generously, tolerantly, and respectfully share the knowledge, expertise, and little-known tricks that lead to success for artists.

When I left college, I was filled with inspiration. After last weekend, I can't seem to stop visualizing and writing. It will also take me the entire summer to sort and handle the data because I have a lot on my table that was never shown and it is so disorganized. The fact that I was able to see things from a different perspective and realized how many hats I am wearing made this past weekend amazing as well.

Will sincerely miss this creative group of artists, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity.

Rashika Ojha

Indian Classical Dancer, Teacher, and Choreographer

Life of an artist is unstable and there are many junctures where you are confused, directionless or want to give up. Numoo, is like a light, a helping hand or aid to move on to succeed.

Arqam

Soul Singer

Been an insightful couple of weekends — grateful to have the opportunity to learn and relearn from some of the industry’s best.

Kinda el-Atrach

Singer/songwriter, Guitarist, Pianist, and Sound Engineer

It didn't occur to me that I would be joining an empathic community of industry professionals who validate artists and truly want to support our careers afterwards. It has been more than learning from professionals; I'll never forget the NYUAD theater tour and feeling so grateful to have been chosen to be a part of this cohort.
