Anthropologist, geneticist, author, and entrepreneur Spencer Wells discusses his work using genetics to track human movement patterns around the world. A new and rapidly-growing industry, consumer genomics gives people the opportunity to learn not only about the origin of their ancestors, but also about the traits they have inherited from them, using DNA data. Through a whirlwind tour of the past 60,000 years of human history, Wells speculates about where current demographic trends might be in the future and discusses how consumer DNA tests can be used to better understand the human population.
