Professor Ali H. Nayfeh was one of the most renowned scholars in the field of Nonlinear Dynamics. For over fifty years, his outstanding contributions to research and teaching in Nonlinear Dynamics was recognized throughout the world. This recognition resulted in several international awards including the 2014 Benjamin Franklin Medal, the 2008 ASME Tom Caughey Award, the 2005 ASME Lyapunov Award, and honorary doctorates from Saint Petersburg Marine Technical University, the Technical University of Munich, and Politechnika Szczecinska. This symposium serves as a tribute to his long career contribution. It also serves as a platform for exchanging research results in the field of Nonlinear Dynamics between researchers from NYU, local, regional, and international venues thereby reinforcing the vision of NYUAD as a global lighthouse of education and research.
