The Translucent Borders workshop brings together practitioners and scholars to examine the role of dance and music at points of cultural juxtaposition. The sessions focus not only on borders as points of conflict, but on a range of types of artistic cultural encounter and their various effects. Performing artists have historically been drawn to cultures of difference. How can individuals reconcile the two effects of attraction and opposition at borders, and what is the relationship between them?
