Interested scholars please contact nyuad.programs@nyu.edu“Jazz” defies neat historical narratives regarding its origins outside of the geopolitical space, known by many names such as Place des Negres, Place Congo, Vieux Carre, and, most commonly, Congo Square. This interdisciplinary program brings together scholars and practitioners from South Africa, France, the US, Canada, Kuwait, and the UAE to discuss what "Global Jazz" is compared to “Jazz,” and what it means to be in a global collaboration on a particular Global Jazz genre called “Khaleeji-Jazz.”
A concert follows this discussion at 9:30pm in the Red Theater of the Arts Center at NYUAD.
