From Assessment to Action: The IUCN Red List of Ecosystems for Coral Reefs in the ROPME Sea Area

This workshop marks the completion of the first IUCN Red List of Ecosystems assessment of coral reefs across the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, and western Arabian Sea. Hosted by NYUAD in collaboration with IUCN and regional partners, the event presents pre-publication regional results alongside global assessment findings and examines how countries in the region can apply them to conservation planning, management, and national biodiversity reporting. Participants develop coordinated strategies for communicating the findings before and after publication, explore opportunities for national-scale assessments, and define priorities for regional data sharing, monitoring, and scientific collaboration.
